Vol 1 # 02
2 April 2010

We looped an inaugural edition of e-noise on 5 February 2010. Encouraged by the response, we are happy to loop e-noise fortnightly, every alternate Friday, starting from 2 April 2010. In this edition, we will discuss noise/vibration issues of rotating machinery which, for example, is a major requirement in the HVAC industry.

Any equipment either rotor or stator will have its own CS (critical speed) or natural frequency which when excited results in structureborne vibration and airborne noise in the building. By designing the rotor we can minimize or ensure the equipment operates below or higher to its critical speed. But that is an ideal situation. A quick solution for currently operating equipment is to avoid such noise/vibration issues with a product called ‘pad isolators’.

Anutone’s Noizkon division has extensive expertise and experience in designing and manufacturing innovative products to control noise/vibration in technical collaboration with Kinetics USA, and pad isolators is one of them, distinct from neoprene or spring isolators. Pad isolators are precompressed, moulded glassfibre-based cubes that can be incorporated into innovative floor isolation systems.

Available in a range of load rating and vibration isolation efficiency, pad isolations from Anutone-Kinetics are extensively researched, tested and proven at project sites.

Anutone can comprehensively address noise/vibration and seismic restraint concerns for almost any building application. Value is added with our trained and experienced engineering staff and customer support teams ready to work with you. Call us now!
